All is calm

posted in food, Wx |

A familiar melody, with familiar words. The third line, in particular, seems pertinent: “All is calm”. That’s the summation of life in the country. Just a year ago, we were still in the metropolitan mode, with the clan assembled in the common area. This time around, fewer of “the team” are present, but we hold to the same fundamentals.

Had a surprise visit from a nearby neighbour this morning, with an invite to join their family table tomorrow, should we not have plans. That ranks high on my classy counter; we won’t be there because of a prior engagement with a thawed fowl locally, but I feel right at home (again).

As usual, there were errands to run today. Refill the car gas tank, after our ride yesterday (and pass along one of the homebrew ornaments to the store owner). Pick up additional tabletop treats in town. Accept the concept of a green day, tomorrow. That hasn’t happened in recent memory. The sea, in particular, was agitated, what with high winds and rain showers. Those who come through during beach season have no idea of how the ocean is able to show contrasts. I should have brought a camera along. Maybe tomorrow.

I might prep a pie, this evening. Just because. My meringue skills are improving, and the time required is reasonable. No sense trying to distract the sideline coaches; accept the inevitable. Perhaps I can do the hot part of my stuffing, as well. Or maybe not. Not like I have a full schedule ahead for tomorrow. Remember… “All is calm”.
