The view from here
Ever and ages ago, in that period of my life that I classify as BC (before children), I went to school. A series of them, actually. One of them tried to instruct me in the generalities of weather observation, as part of my job. The finest minds from MetCan (OK, Norm…) spent hours explaining that there were many wonderful things to observe. I recall, mainly, fog.
There are a number of types of fog, each one with its own Wiki section. Today, faced with the view from my deck, I tried (unsuccessfully) to sort out the difference between “radiation” and “advection”. No matter; what we really needed was a fog horn.
I did venture forth, to check the mailbox. Required my headlights and full attention, for who knows what monster lurks beyond the next bend. We had no mail, but my driveway is, again, free of precipitation.
CBC offered up recommendations for gifting the “person who has everything”. In short, more of the same, only better quality. That’s what keeps retail alive. I considered my belongings, but I’m unsure what would be on my wishlist. Seriously. I’m fading into that period of my life where the list is slanted toward “things money can’t buy”.
In case any of my children continue to wonder, that means no neckties (I don’t wear them, not even around the house). No more socks (son #3 shares with me every wash day, even if he doesn’t know it). No hats. In fact, why not settle for “things money can’t buy”. Hope that helps.
