No game changing blunders

posted in politics |

Tonight, I’m watching (sic) the neighbours to the south, as they work through their convoluted method of choosing a leader. If we thought our last federal election campaign seemed long… those folk take the process to surreal lengths.

So, what did I see? Tonight, the debate had three sane individuals facing off. Don’t get me started on the spectacle from a few days (weeks?) back with the “alternate reality league”. The show is in progress, but I don’t foresee any big blunders by any of the three Democratic hopefuls. This is their game, and they play it with breathtaking skill.

So, is this hockey or soccer? No goals will be scored and there will be a lot of “to and fro”. Politics is much more fun when the game model is college football. What I’m learning is that Hilary knows her facts, Bernie knows how to flick the big shower room towel and “the third guy” is there to provide balance on the podium.

If only the outcome wasn’t so bloody serious to the rest of us. The next five years are going to be bellicose.
Here at home, we’re fighting a different battle. Gastro, based on the symptoms. I’m hoping that the peak hour has passed for one, and that the other is going to get a bye on this one. No fun. A good reminder why travel would be a risky way to spend the next few days. I’m going to plan on a holiday here at home. Perhaps not as much fun, but a practical choice.
