Did I stain or seal?
On my hands and knees, in the early morning sun, with a paintbrush in hand… wishing I could remember exactly how Tom Sawyer was able to get others to assist him with that fence thing he had going on. No matter.
It took two hours, but the back deck is stained. Or sealed. I’m unclear as to the difference. The stuff was very liquid, so the rising breezes meant that the final half hour involved spreading by spray, as much as by brush. Tomorrow (if the rain holds off), the front steps will also be done, and we will move one step closer to winter. I planted one of my new reflectors on a pole over by the close wellhead; we were told that snowplows tend to get snagged on such attractions. Not what we need.
Company, this evening. One of the neighbours stopped by with a rather large bush for the intended flower beds. Again, something to plant tomorrow, if the rain holds off. My iPad is flagging torrential rains later this week, which makes the deadline real(er).
Getting ready for a few days of bachelorhood, given the intention of others in the house to attend the opening of the first family bar. The dog would travel, but someone has to keep me company while I wait for the unscheduled visits by the various contractors. Soon, soon, the season of their efforts will end.
Last evening, my attempts to photograph the great eclipse were not a high point in personal effort. The stars were sharp. The moon wasn’t. Need to stop “pushing the envelope” and return to well lit subjects.
