Wheel that barrow

posted in technology |

I assumed that certain things were available at the local hardware store. In generic form. Today, I learned that one of the simple implements of home estate care, the wheelbarrow, comes in a confusing array of styles and sizes. And, in keeping with proper box store staffing, the whole thing is a mystery to those who sell them.

We decided that the best way would be to go out into the gardening centre, and simply heft the models, one after another. No loaded steering involved; that will be our own problem. After careful attention to the fabrication, and material choice, the purchase was made. I now own a 5 cu.ft. yet to be assembled plastic/wood/metal contraption that will probably spend a large part of the year as a mosquito nursery.

On to other things. We also decided to add a photo-quality printer to the household, which meant spending a good part of the afternoon trying to decide which model. Once again, the staff members were invisible. Until we got into line, and then one brave lad checked to see if we needed anything else.

Art begets art, and if we intend to print photos, framing will be required. Off to the local art supply store, where a good line of credit helps. So many things to buy, all requiring serious cash outlay. We did luck in, when a clerk got involved in our searches, and added some coupons that reduced the pain at the cash register.

Big arrival in the driveway. First time I’ve heard the dog sing!
