A new sense of community

posted in environment |

I managed to get up for the sunrise. Alone. Everyone else opted for “there’ll be another day”. Even the dogs. Left with an empty feeling, I did the natural thing and loaded the bread machine. That’s how you start another day. With all that excess energy, a good breakfast was required, and so the other (late) risers had a full scrambled eggs and bacon breakfast. Can’t promise the same thing for tomorrow, although I still have enough bacon in the ‘fridge to pull it off.

The day was devoted to waiting for the boat to pass; had to show off for the company. Even captured a few minutes of video, although next time I’ll add a windscreen and an external microphone. It’s now clear why so many amateur videos have a music bed. Chatting with a friend who was heading off to the big AC/DC show near Moncton – I’m officially old, because I remember when the group began, but I have no interest in seeing people my age perform loudly on a far-away stage. Can’t see ’em, can’t hear ’em, might as well stay home and watch the puppies vie for attention.

We were invited to a neighbourhood BBQ this evening; new people to meet and greet. Wait; we’re the new people. Not used to that take on things. It was fun, and I even experimented with a dog unattached by the usual umbilical leash. He did wander; not far. By dark, I bid farewell and returned down the road. What seemed like a long way away, wasn’t.
