But will it start?

posted in environment |

Awoke, in the dark. Cold, compared to the last few days. Turns out that the temperature had dropped, and the windows and doors left open by others had let a stiff breeze pass from side to side in the house. Odd that such things even happen.

We had two sets of visitors, today. Not that I mind; I’m just not accustomed to the attention. Life is different in this part of the world.

The dog and the boy went missing, this morning. After several hours, a text message. “Can we get a ride home?  We’ve walked too far”. In the country, with a one-car family, sometimes a great notion is just that. I responded that the next ride home might be several hours away. They returned under their own power.

The Duffy trial is now on hiatus. Too much like prime time TV. Unfortunately, the season climax will be later than required, if influence over voters is the goal. Given the short attention span (and memory) of a large part of the population, this isn’t what the situation requires.

We received an oversize shipment this afternoon, via UPS. Unlike other carriers, this driver wanted to meet the dog and convince his hairyness that “one more biscuit won’t hurt”. The dog complied, sort of. Better than the “I’m staying in my truck just in case” mentality of many delivery people.

Speaking of which, the tractor still hasn’t been delivered. I know; we didn’t fix an exact date. I’m just curious to see if I can get the beast to start on command.
