Newly minted ID
A new address is a good reason to update the ID envelope. This morning, I received a new driver’s permit, and made the “official” request for a local health card. Both required, if I want to get full value for my tax dollar.
The order is underway for my “Bell Bundle”. Not many other possibilities in this neighbourhood, where monopoly rules apply. A credit check, to be followed by a bank cheque. Nothing free, no matter how just my cause. We should have an installer at the door later in the week. My intuition figures that the furniture van, data man, blind installer and some other unannounced entity will all stack up in the driveway at the same time.
We put some effort into adding hardware, this afternoon. The little things, like a can opener and a paper towel tower. The bigger gadgets, like a whole-house water filter. Just because we can, rather than basing the purchase on a pressing need. I’m also ready for the double test (bacterial and chemical) at the government bureau.
Also, a trip to the far reaches of the local lumber yard, so I could see what was available locally in “prehung doors”. At $87 per, I want a trio. The delivery charge of $25 is worth every penny – every try to carry three doors in a hatchback? Me neither.
Oh, and we cooked a hot meal this evening. Yes, I had fishcakes; no carbonization noted. That’s a longstanding joke with those who have known me as a kitchen troll. I can do many more things than when I was a minor. The menu choice (today) was fortuitous.
