Cut or detour the services

posted in economy |

Used to be, when you put a stamp on a letter, that effort paid for delivery. Even if your address changed. Not any more; today I “signed up” for a year of forwarding (junk mail, more than anything else). Just short of $10/mth, the amount is highly symbolic, but it shows how we no longer get the service  we used to.

This was a good day, in the sense that I’ve arranged to either cut or detour many of our services. Mail delivery, cable TV, Internet, telephony, alarm system: all forewarned and ready to forget they ever knew me. The only thing left is that turkey that keeps fertilizing the lawn. At at time when I want the growth to slow, he comes by at the oddest hours with smelly sprays. I will find out how to put a stop to it… not paying for the service should send a signal, don’t you think.

Spotted on Vines: someone who taught their dog to whisper, on command. What a useful trick!

Thankfully, I prefer pork. The price of beef is “crazy”, and after reading an explanation on a news site, I’m still confused. Why would anyone want to run their car on corn mash, when a cow tastes so much better? That’s a simplistic view of things, but let’s get our priorities straightened around. Feed the feed to the critters, not the tank. Stop this foolish waste of biomass. In a worst case, the cow can pull your car around the yard, and then serve as a tasty meal.
