Taped for robustness
The end is near. When I transferred my clothes and two historical atlases into an oversized carton, the whole thing suddenly got real. Not that I need constant access to my polo collection, but that the sudden urge to check who lived in Lot 16 is on hold until next week.
The same thing goes for bongos, and Querty boards. In a carton, taped three times for added robustness; that’s committment. The dog is edgy.
We’re at the point of moving furniture, the better to vacuum. My gut feeling is that people who move other people’s stuff are not impressed by the cosmetic effort, but I’m just a bit player in this passionate play.
Proof that the timeline is blurred: a phone call, this morning, from the manufacturer of our next home. A cheery checkup, to make sure the customer in the equation is satisfied (and apt to speak positively to other potentials). When I pointed out that we hadn’t exactly crossed the threshold, she was taken aback (in a cheery way). We’ll try this again, in a couple of months.
And tomorrow, the “quest for the prize” begins. Two appointments with realtors, to see which team gets to plant the flag by the curb. At this point, I’m willing to watch from the sidelines. Let the accredited professionals do what they claim to do best. I have little interest in learning a new trade right now, and my selling skills are trivial.
A new sub arrived this afternoon. Can’t wait for the “bass to drop”.
