Quick, stop the door

posted in environment |

Funny the things one worries about. This morning, I had this sudden mind view of throwing open the door and denting the new washing machine. The one I haven’t even hooked up yet. Unless… if I could find a way to restrain the path of the door… and with that, my quest began.

Hardware store websites offer learning possibilities. I put “door stop” into the search tool, and then tried to visualize how the various available products might work in real life. This one seemed like a good bet.

The sort of thing I might have seen, but probably not. Now all that remained was for me to find a source (and then a translation of the product description). Which I did, quickly.  Free of other mandated tasks, I had my purchase made within the hour. Now to make sure I don’t throw the door open before installation.

More of the stuff from the kitchen is packed and ready. Yesterday, she who has a better view of how such things should be done made the drawers tidy. Today, I had an easier job: reboxing the bread robot and the slow cooker.  Appliances that we’ve learned to love, as the workload drops.

This afternoon, I had great plans to teach a science lesson to son #3, involving basic technologies. The pump and the siphon. That green  pool of shame in the back yard has to be drained and cleaned, and I wanted the job off the list. The lesson didn’t get taught; instead, I hooked up the pump and filter, just like any other year, and then I let the water escape.
