Attacking the infrastructure

posted in environment, food |

My bouts of sporadic insomnia are not related to stress. There, I’ve made that clear. Now let’s move along, or move, or something.

Today, I attacked the infrastructure in the basement. All those odd runs of Cat5, between the beams and over the pipes are gone. Pulled free and coiled for reuse in another venue. The work has served us well, even if I depend on wifi almost all the time. That’s my choice; I could have gone with tethered whenever I wanted.

There is also a box of tiny rail cars. More than I remembered. Maybe they multiply in the dark. Maybe I should leave them a while longer and see if they can spawn something more impressive (like an expensive locomotive or three). Part of the plan for a HO layout has always been to strike it rich first. Need a solid wallet to go with anything other than the “under the Christmas tree loop” you see in old movies.

My bread trials continue. This morning, all out of “bread” flour, I loaded the robot with a charge of “all-purpose” flour. Looked the same… My result had the consistency of PlayDough; in fact, I think that’s exactly what I had produced. Nothing risen and roasted in that batch. The garbage can contains such errors, without complaint. I made my way over to the market for another bag of Robin Hood, and the resulting loaf was just fine. Go figure.

Still checking the snow levels on the Island, with the help of others. The weight restrictions were lifted this morning, and now I’m anxious to see a truck in front of the house. Either one.
