Tally the ballots
The talking heads needed more than three hours to tell the tale. This is election day on the Island, and with just about all the counting completed, there will be continuity in the colours. Liberals are still in a majority, albeit diminished. Two of the four party leaders did not “win” their seats, which means weeks of posturing ahead. And the Green party entered into the books (historical or otherwise), by placing the “Happy Dentist” into the assembly. All in all, good fun.
If ever technology is introduced to tally votes electronically, a whole evening of entertainment will disappear. After all, with close to two hundred minutes of naming and facing, the televised returns offer an occasion for identification of the ruling class. For anyone who took the time to watch, you now have a chance of spotting a famous person as you stroll through the mall, or sip your cola at the burger joint. Or the upscale restaurant; some of those who play in the political arena have refined palates.
I did notice the snow on the ground. In almost any outdoor shot, the background was white, instead of red/green. Next time around, the government might respect the “fixed election dates”, and give a chance for warmer weather as the candidates climb the lanes. No need for mud boots.
At home, I managed to put the huge saw back into its shipping container. I exaggerate, only a little. Took two of us to hoist the beast inside, and then I had to drag it out again and remove the feet. Now that the packing is complete, it won’t get touched again (I hope) until I learn how to properly “do” joinery in the basement. Crown mouldings… maybe.
