Today we prepared for tomorrow

posted in environment, politics |

Today, we prepared for tomorrow. Great slogan; fit for a political bumper sticker. In my case, a simple nod to the others who are involved in getting the house done. The money machine required that I twist the crank, but all seems to be working now. One more element in my restless nights taken care of.

The need to protect what is mine comes down to locks and the dog. The worksite required access, over the last six months, and the deadbolts had readily available keys for the taking. Based on common sense (and a prompt from a friend), I set out to find a locksmith who would settle for selling me the hardware. Stop one: a company without anything more than office space that marketed to the banking sector. Overkill. Stop two: a family enterprise that didn’t seem to offer anything more than platitudes. Moving right along. Stop three: a real, brick and mortar store, with someone that understood what I wanted at an acceptable price. I ordered the new cylinders around lunch time, and returned before supper time to receive my bundle of brass. Next time in the house, I get to play craftsman.

This is also the prep day for the “big” garbage pickup. We moved enough furniture to fill a small bedroom from “a small bedroom” to the curb. Ignored the time prescription, knowing that the city wouldn’t be by to check on my obedience. Took some effort to get the bedframe apart, and now we can move on to dumping the junk that was hidden underneath.

And I had a chance to “tune in” to a live stream of the PEI election debates. Nothing snarly or “chippy”. The best candidate won’t win, but that’s the way things go.
