Totally inefficient

posted in health |

Several months ago, I had a confident step and a slightly bruised arm. Vaccinated, thanks to the generosity of the state, against the “biggest risk of winter”. And now, after a single news item, my hopes for good health have been reduced to zero. Or, at least, my innoculant has a value of 0% against the current strains of influenza.

Not good. I now have to consider a withdrawal from society. A move to the country, where only an occasional trip for grub (no, not grubs) would increase my risk of infection. If I can make it through to spring, I can go back to worrying about things more exotic; West Nile, anyone?

Or, I could simply shrug off the potential for weeks of feverish discomfort. Chills. Regular self-medication with doses of Netflix.  In passing, son #3 has figured out how to use a VPN, so the possibilities increase.

Hurrah! This is also health related, sort of. I’ve worked my way through a complete sack of oranges. Not a big sack, but for the first time in ages, I’ve had no loss due to rot, or mould, or attacks by tiny insects. Lots of real vitamin C, with an added dose of natural fruity fibre. Yum.

Another week with no information on the project. I could make it through to mud season, at this rate. Dreams of filling a van and heading east… Of course I’m worried. Is there something wrong? Did the factory forget a fundamental feature? Am I about to sink into the depths of bad rhyme?
