Costs someone less to borrow
According to a news conference I caught this morning, interest rates are dropping even further. Not the rates that would be meaningful to the neighbours and I; credit cards or mortgages. However, somewhere, somebody will pay a little less to borrow. I wonder who you have to know to get in on that windfall.
Actually, the decline might influence those who want to get into the home ownership game. And, I have a deal for one of you. For less than what you’ll pay for something new, I’m about to list a lightly used bungalow. Watch the papers.
Which reminds me; why is the local newspaper still arriving? I didn’t renew my subscription, and I certainly didn’t send money. Is this one of those unfortunate computer glitches we read about (in the newspaper…)?
Mind you, the cable people glitched this morning, and there was no net or TV or phone for a bit. Made the old-school paper at the door seem reassuring.
Sometime last night, a panic moment. What if the electricity goes out? On the Island, I mean. The deal hasn’t been made with the generator dealer, and I have this niggling suspicion that pouring a concrete pad in sub-zero weather will be problematic. According to Google, you can set up cement in winter; something about exothermic reactions that my high school chemistry teacher tried to explain o. The blackboard. It requires special techniques, and insulation, and heating pads.
A carefully worded email to the generator dealer went out, several hours ago. Can’t wait to hear back.
