A day on fast forward

posted in environment, food |

Wow! Forget sleeping and the next day just zooms on by. Seriously, I looked at the clock and realized that I’d spent the span of a day without pause. Kitchen efforts, mainly.

I know you don’t care about the menu, or who graced the table. Accept that nothing burned, or forgot to cook. Consider that everything arrived at the “serve me” point without stress or ennui. Relax, knowing that the take down and put away steps are also completed, and we can mark this date as a logistical success.

Now I’m ready to break out the new toys and play for a while before going to bed. That’s the way it used to be, back in the days of yore. Now I’m just someone who will pay a few more bills while waiting to see what else requires attention. Grown up and exempt from fun.

The Queen (she of the penny profile) was on TV, reminiscing about Christmas ’14 and all the goods times they had. In the trenches… given that she meant those loyal peasants who did duty for God and Country a full century ago, it’s clear that the royals have a different perspective on fun than you or I. Nice lady; may be a few bricks short of a full load.

While the others get down to some serious WOW, I guess I should go back to reading a good book. Old school. Or I could take over the table and begin that jigsaw puzzle I received (last year). Classic old school. Or follow the dog’s example and sleep. Nobody else will notice.
