Casting an offer into the stream

posted in economy |

I admit to peeking at the flyers. I did check out the early welcome on the website. But, I did NOT go to a single Boxing Day Extravaganza. Groceries don’t count. Nor does a minor purchase on the “Bay”.

I did make one cast into the water, when I tried to convince a vendor to drop his retail to something closer to wholesale (pricing). Those “make an offer” banners sometimes work. This time, he came right back with an offer that didn’t beat Amazon, and I told him so. Perhaps he’ll be more entrepreneurial in future.

Finally found the perfect sized box for my anemometer wind cups (trying to store it for transport). The “turtles” that served as filler were tasty! Now that the big ticket items from the back yard are all in containers, I have a newfound optimism… we might get moved. Still have a few miracles left (to accomplish) in the basement, but this is going to happen.

Watching the Island political scene, if only with a sense of amusement. There’s a “spin around the drain” taking place; not yet an implosion, but the winter is just starting. As cabin fever sets in, we should notice some disappearances in the front lines. Or so I’ve been told. I’m just another interested bystander. When the time comes, I’ll get the T-shirt.

Another rail incident, in Alberta. According to the CBC: “A news release from the railway said there were no hazardous materials involved and no one was injured.” How reassuring.
