Covered in a fine layer of flour

posted in food, technology |

Faced with a shortage of milk, I opened the local supermarket this morning. Of course, my brand of milk was out of stock, but there were other needs at home. Shopped for a bit and the lad with the super-pallet clued in that an empty cooler did nothing for sales. Saved.

This has been a kitchen kind of day. Double dose of traditional shepherd’s pie. Bread. Yes, the new machine has been waiting for me to get involved. First thing, covered my dark blue sweatshirt in a fresh layer of “flour white”. I swear, the stuff jumped out of the measuring device and on to the nearest living thing!

Turns out that with the right yeast mix, an attention to measurement and a careful avoidance of tinkering, and the gadget turns out some good bread. The beginner recipe produces a fine cube of bread, ready for your favourite jam. Three hours plus; some advance planning will be a minimum requirement.

On TV, a curling championship with the Homan team representing “us”. The “them” have pronounced Scottish accents and a strong possibility of winning the whole thing (a brand new trophy and a bag of money). Right now, the game is half over, so I’ll play the optimistic option”.

Trying to get my head around the study of HVAC. With weak math skills and a complete lack of familiarity with the associated hardware, it’s a slow study. Lots of YouTube content ahead, or else I will be investing heavily in someone else’s pension fund.
