Social media and discretion

posted in sports, technology |

Saturday, and the Vanier Cup has been awarded. With one point more than the opposition, a crucial kick was knocked down in the final few minutes. Keep the game close and in your favour, and the trophy will follow. Until next season…

Tried to send a file to my sister, using a primitive FB app. Sent it to everybody… This was a quiet afternoon, and only a handful of the acquaintances noticed. Yes, I was able to sweep up my “spill”, but let it serve as a reminder. Social media isn’t designed for discretion. The file? A floor plan, for my house. Symbolic.

Could someone at our local pizza outlet please take the time to look at their own website. The menu without prices, and the mixed size quotes (is big the same as large?) are nothing more than an additional frustration. Worse, when I called, I learned that “two for one” is not connected to the pricing.

When I move, should I take my ladder? Not obvious. If I can fit the length into the truck, so be it. If not, the new owners will get more free stuff. We’ve already chosen to abandon our major appliances and the trusted electric mower. The shovels will come along, given the state of the next lawn (not yet planted). Probably the hose will stay here. Decisions that do have a dollar value, even if only minor.

Not much else going on. Need to mentally pack for our road trip, without the dog. Imagine: no need to eat while racing back and forth to the car.
