Up on the roof
This might be the last time that I have to climb on the roof of this house. A sigh of relief; up is not better than down. In fact, the ladder will be left behind, since it requires two people to get it out of the basement. Next time around, wall hooks in the garage.
Anyhow, there was a small VHF vertical antenna, bought at a ham fest about two decades ago, up there. I want to keep it, and rarely do house ads claim that antennas are a feature. We used the “ladder time” to replace light bulbs on the eaves, and the dismantling part of my antenna rescue took only a few minutes. Done.
Never let an occasion to multitask with your ladder slip away. The eaves trough also needed a bit of pre-winter cleaning, to get rid of some leaves (a free offering from the neighbour’s maple). Nothing too nasty; insufficient time to compost.
The weather is cooling down; I finally opted for an additional blanket on the bed, rather than reprogramming a thermostat. My Eco-side coming out. We also made a combined effort to create a bouilli, which is the local term for an old fashioned harvest soup. Mmm mmm good, without any need for a can opener.
We now need to focus on something known as “bridge financing”, where the new house is paid for before the old house is sold. Several competing institutions, but this is not a game that I find amusing. I want all the paperwork filed. ASAP.
One of the players mentioned “landscaping and lane”. Everything has a price (which we’ll have to pay). Can you go with windflowers and generic weeds, along a rough path?
