Eccentric callers on display

posted in environment |

Another week underway. I know, there was yesterday, but it didn’t count, exactly.

Anyhow, today meant another opportunity to visit the local EcoCentre, where the guard wanted to see some photo ID before allowing me to unload. Are they getting people from outside of the tax basin visiting? Glad to know that only authentic resident junk will be added to their reserves. For me, a chance to hand over a few VHS and DVDS players. Oh, and a telephone with an eccentric caller display. We bought something “new and improved” yesterday, so the delay between surplus to our needs and gone was shortened substantially.

Ditto for my visit to that bookseller who accepts free stuff. I wonder if he would have been less enthusiastic if I had tried to bargain or barter? (I) will never know. With another four cartons gone, my personal library has eroded into a personal collection of a few random books.

Thanks to the net, I have a clearer comparative view of fajita vs burrito vs taco. The spices are similar, but the meat loads add variety to a gringo diet. There’s something calming about the act of reducing onions and green Bell peppers to a granular state.

After a line by line analysis, I learned that my version of the house order differed in several important ways from their version. Have that cleared up, now. The variation was less than 2%, but the benefit wasn’t in my favour. Important to keep this kind of thing under control; the scanner added the correct version to my virtual briefcase.
