Referendum anticipation

posted in environment, politics |

True story. Two guys are in queue at a local burger joint. Make it all the way to the counter, when their register closes, leaving one other open. The one with a newly formed queue of a school bus load of hungry farm workers.

Another true story. Same guys, waiting to turn left into yet another fast food place. Almost get T-boned by a driver passing stopped traffic on the right side, as they slowly advance through their turn. So much for waiting for your turn, oncoming crazy in a SUV. Not polite.

Moral: fast food may be dangerous to your health and will require a change in your priorities.

Yes, the two guys did get their supper. The dog still wanted the paw share, not knowing how much effort the food had required.

Feeling some trepidation over tomorrow. I may not be busy enough to avoid emotional moments, and I have never done anything like this before. Schools don’t teach us how to “leave the game graciously”, despite the time devoted to PT (what one if my teachers called his version of physical education). Given the number of times that new hires are expected to change career paths in a lifetime, the system needs to modify curriculum.

And with that, my evening begins. Waiting for the results out of Scotland, where a referendum is underway. Will the UK have a modified flag, some months from now? Too close to call, according to the popular news sites. Only Twitter shows a real trend, with YES a leading force.
