Changing times
Finally made first line on the agenda for a staff meeting. Not that I ever lusted after that post position; it actually took me by surprise. Seems that I won’t have to work, after this week. No lottery win, though. Rather, a future, uncertain.
And with the meeting over, the realization that things are changing. Today, a presentation from a tablet, over a wireless link, using content generated by a team effort in the cloud. Somehow, that wasn’t on the list of “things we might want to do, some day” when I showed up in a classroom on Job Day One.
Microsoft buys Minecraft; I still have no idea what that’s all about. Time to “ask a kid”.
Cat Stevens is going back out on tour. Time to ask an ageing hippy about that one…
And Apple releases a major update for the iOS, tomorrow. The pundits tell me that Siri will be everywhere, listening, offering advice; too much akin to 1984 (remember when Apple thought that would be a Really Bad Thing?) Success does that to you. My second move, after installing the new software, will be some careful research to find out how to cancel the creepy presence in the room. Call me a Luddite.
Next up… I have no idea. Count the hours. Count my good fortune. Watch a bit of TV. Sleep? Found out that my episode involving health services could have gone much worse. Suddenly, I have to face my own mortality. Buy some insurance.
The dog, on the other paw, is worried only about missed chow opportunities and the proximity of perfect strangers to his boundary.
