Slowly unpacking
The final action of vacation: unpacking. I’ve decided to stretch the “pleasure” out over a couple of days. Just because.
Actually, the camping mattresses are now back to just like new. Covers laundered. Foam allowed to “return to original thickness”. Bladders tested. Tomorrow they can be put away, ready for the next time.
Someone mentions a new piece of technology and my reaction is “I want one of those”. Early adopter, etc. today, after reading about the BioLite stove system, I put my money on the line. With our other camp stoves, fuel is problematic. Those pesky little canisters of some invisible gas are easily emptied and illegal to refill. The WhisperLite stove uses a variety if liquid fuels that are an accident waiting (for me) to happen. The BioLite burns twigs!
Or driftwood. Or coffee stir sticks, should I happen across an unguarded sugar and cream products display. There’s always wood around… And the added feature of recharging the cellphone, day or night, adds value. We looked at the reviews, watched the videos and decided to prepare for the next (minor) emergency.
This is not exactly a WTSHTF device. One never knows, though. As long as we keep coffee beans on hand, the baseline problem of life is solved.
The dog is confused. He knows where he is; what to do is less so. Should he sleep inside or outside? Does he need to bark at every car, or just the ones that stay too close? What about trying to wake the “big dog” now that the “boy” is close by?
