Red eye and blue eye
Spent most of today with my eyes closed. Not asleep; that would be too easy. More like a practiced squint. Keeping the sun out of the brain.
I have eye issues. The red one (used to frighten small children) from time to time goes into “pained” mode. I guess that’s Nature’s way of keeping it colourful. The other eye, my blue one, takes care of all the normal stuff. Helping me find food, and avoid closed doors and other sighted things. But, on a too bright day, systems go into a lockstep mode and my day will pass slowly, waiting for night.
Thus, today served as a buffer. Soon, back in camp, long before moonrise, the dog will get instructions. Lie down. Stay. Keep on your own side of the mattress. The weekend partners should be headed home; no need to wait for moonrise to fall asleep.
I am starting to make short movies with the iPad. Catchy things; a campfire, a boat leaving the quay, us driving down the Cove road on full bunny alert. Even some shots of stationary windmills (today was hot AND windless). Once I learn how to add a soundtrack and get beyond my two minute run time (shades of Super Eight), the folks at Cannes or Sundance will get a heads’ up. Should make their day.
We went for lunch in Montague today. Gillis Drive-In. With a traditional burger, fries smothered in gravy and Coca-Cola in a glass bottle, what could be more Summer Retro? We could have had carhop service, but I have limits.
