A grind question

posted in travel |

Life in our makeshift village goes on. With the summer passing quickly, more familiar faces each morning. Conversations pick up where they left off the year before; we have the back stories already learned. At least, the “for public release” version. Who knows how the folk live once the campground has faded from the rear view mirror. Little matter. The summer version fits our lightweight roles.

Today there were other things to do. Get camp fuel and dog food during a “salon moment”. Check if there was any wild wifi around the Field of Dreams. Stop at the house store with some minor questions. Stop at the box store that sells hardware to compare the selection with home. Much better, as it turns out. We got some more info about the generic but dreaded vinyl siding… Still may swap that out in the bundle.

And then, a family supper in a chain restaurant. The food was nothing special, but that was a minor detail. A chance to convene and break bread before the (limited) vacation time comes to an end. Could be a year or more before it happens again.

Back at the tent, another full evening. Electrification is working in our direction, which spells the disappearance of my favourite section. Progress does cost someone: me. Next year, we’ll see. Camping on the Island may seem like a second choice to other things.

I must remember to get more coffee.

That non sequitur comes from son #3 texting a question about the right grind for our machine. He’s at the same point in the cycle.
