A possible blue light special

posted in travel |

Given the short duration of my extended family’s visit, we decided to trade some quality campground time for the other side. Cottage time. At least an afternoon worth. Pack the car with us, head west and see how the other half live.

First up, lunch along the way, and then a short stop to see other relatives. One, fresh out from the hospital replete with Lapo incisions, bad the other close to 911 status during our visit. Scary stuff. City visit done, we went a little further down the road.

When a car pulled alongside with my mother on board, it came home. We were home, so to speak. Or, it might be that the Island is much smaller than I like to admit, and this is just “business as usual”. Anyhow, we parked by one of the (three) cottages, convinced the dog to play nice and went inside.

A TV! One channel, erratic but something not seen for the last bit. A soap opera for pseudo-entertainment. The pixilation made it into a futile exercise, so we turned it off. Not necessary.  With good weather outside (and tornado forecasts elsewhere),  I was glad to be where I happened to be.

We stayed for a late supper, bid the cottages a fine evening and headed back to our version of comfort.  No traffic, no speed taps, no stress. I even tried my hand at filming with the iPad. Conclusion: a Steadi-Cam would be fun to own, borrow, home brew, whatever.

The funny flashing blue light on the front of the car reappeared, briefly…
