New place to call “home”
Even storms run out of juice. By dawn the winds had died, and the sky cleared up for a good day of travel. Good, not long. Other than a quick calorie boost near the magnetic hill, we were on our way to the Island without pause. I couldn’t convince the driver to detour through good old “Torment In Time” and so we started the afternoon with a refreshing bridge transit.
Things don’t change that fast on the far side. The potato fields were a little less ready to flower, and the Plan B was open for a bumpy bypass. I think the old road was fine, but I don’t own shares in construction firms…
At the hotel, we were just in time for our early check in award; they had found the additional night we needed. One less move for a spooked dog (and his owners). With the best of intentions, we were off to have some frozen yogurt and purchase in inexpensive wireless printer.
Geeks in the room; the printer now “talks” to both PC and Mac, and there is an interesting hint about NFC and the smartphone for me to explore. It would have been handy to have a suite (like last night) just for the extra space, but this is a working vacation. We’ll move cautiously for a couple of weeks.
A sight panic attack after we came back from supper at the King’s BBQ Chinese restaurant. Nothing to do with the food (the reviews on Yelp were spot-on). Rather, one of the telephones was MIA, and only after some frantic texting and dialling did we hear it (from under the bed). Note: on vacation, keep the sound effects on 11.
