A hit to my self-actualization

posted in environment |

Time to get a tattoo. Or a bumper sticker for my forehead. The inscription: “This too shall pass”. I’m frustrated by the small stuff. By the things that shouldn’t even register on my personal radar.
For example… does it matter that there is another serious “zero day” bug in IE. I don’t use it, but I do support it. Or another “zero day” bug in Flash. Oh, for the good old days when my flash might need to be recharged periodically, but the only bug was a failure to create a short burst of artificial illumination. Tha flash still works (after all these years). The software version… not so much.

When I find myself “making the rounds” early in the work day, to tell users to change their default printer (yet again), my sense of self-actuaalization takes a hit. Thank you, Doctor Maslow. Oh, and thank you, Wiki, for reminding me of stuff I haven’t revisited in decades. Like the work of Maslow.

  • Truth: honest, reality, beauty, pure, clean and unadulterated completeness
  • Goodness: rightness, desirability, uprightness, benevolence, honesty
  • Beauty: rightness, form, aliveness, simplicity, richness, wholeness, perfection, completion,
  • Wholeness: unity, integration, tendency to oneness, interconnectedness, simplicity, organization, structure, order, not dissociated, synergy
  • Dichotomy-transcendence: acceptance, resolution, integration, polarities, opposites, contradictions
  • Aliveness: process, not-deadness, spontaneity, self-regulation, full-functioning
  • Unique: idiosyncrasy, individuality, non comparability, novelty
  • Perfection: nothing superfluous, nothing lacking, everything in its right place, just-rightness, suitability, justice
  • Necessity: inevitability: it must be just that way, not changed in any slightest way
  • Completion: ending, justice, fulfillment
  • Justice: fairness, suitability, disinterestedness, non partiality,
  • Order: lawfulness, rightness, perfectly arranged
  • Simplicity: nakedness, abstract, essential skeletal, bluntness
  • Richness: differentiation, complexity, intricacy, totality
  • Effortlessness: ease; lack of strain, striving, or difficulty
  • Playfulness: fun, joy, amusement
  • Self-sufficiency: autonomy, independence, self-determining.

And with that, let the evening segue into night time. “To some, a brief interlude.”
