Bias in the broadcast
My timetable is out of sync with the broadcast world. The Olympic opening started while I was at work, but I never had any doubt that there would be retransmissions throughout the rest of the day. Here’s the catch. The American network (who hold the rights) are sending out their version of things. I can’t handle the bias. Not the sweaters, or the flags, or the vague patriotic references. I want to see things through apolitical eyes, and that is going to be more difficult that imagined. Maybe I’ll just imagine the ceremonies, and wait for the next time. As they say, “Four more years”.
Some new hardware came in to the office today. Switches. With a price tag of better than $75K. As the boss put it, “Make sure you lock the door on the way out”. For the record, it has something to do with the next step. Virtualization of networks. I’m a little lost about the how, but that’s not my problem, long term.
Got the two boxes home with the monitors. No need to unwrap; I’ve seen pictures, and the double cartons will protect things for the next while. OK, I may get curious and peek. Later. Instead, I’ve been looking up articles on speaker stands, and this might be a time to homebrew. A tread from the local stairwell section at the local hardware store. A couple of PVC toilet flanges. Some pipe. Some glue. A bag of clean sand. Garner kneepads. Is the image forming, yet? Hang in there. Apparently it is better than the old “hang in there” for monitors.
