Idly watching Idol

posted in Idol, sports |

Given the season, and the age, life has turned me into a spectator. I accept my role, and I have decided to profit from the variety available. This “phase”, like others, will pass.

Three weeks into the latest season of American Idol, and the auditions are over. Not only has the panel of judges been renewed; so has the attitude. After years of mocking the insane in society, this year the presentation has been filled with talent. Almost exclusively. No, there aren’t that many golden tickets, but the show has been about the good (and the great), rather than the hopeless. Hurrah!

We’re in the best time of the year for watching sports. A big bowl game, tomorrow. The BIG GAMES from a place I will never visit, starting next week. And the Scotties Torment of Hearts (an inside joke). If you must throw stones, do it with poise and insane accuracy!

After a lot of shopping, I stumbled across a great price for studio monitors. A “buy one and get the other one for half price” deal. Since my plan has always involved a pair, this was too good to ignore. The actual ship day is weeks off, but I’m old enough to be patient. And on another note, researchers now believe that the reason the elderly seem forgetful isn’t a loss of ability. Rather, they suffer from information overload. Braincell spillage. It sounds better, somehow. Although, it doesn’t explain why the dull among us fail to seem smarter (in comparison to the rest of society) as the years go by.
