The holiday blur
Proof that the holiday season is here: we are seriously behind on the “task list” at work, and nobody seems to care. If an occasion to chatter idly presents itself, the work ethic suffers a wallop. I realize that it isn’t going to get done before tomorrow at leaving time, and it isn’t that important anyway. People have caught the rumour, and I’m starting to get not so subtle reminders that “this is your last time, isn’t it?” Things like eating pizza with the workgroup in a restaurant…
Of course, the bus continues to run erratically, and when I called (for the third time), I was informed that there’s a lot of traffic up by the malls. My bus doesn’t go there, but how do you argue with the voice. I got home, in spite of all those shoppers, and the dog was pleased to see me (for a moment or two).
With fading eyesight, little things like kitting up some test gear take on a whole new perspective. Two errors in the first three component solders; a reminder that ‘this kit is not silk-screened” is equivalent to “this jigsaw puzzle has no real picture”. Do what you can until it gets tiring, and then put it all away fro the evening. The tiny burns won’t scar.
And with that said, at least the background music (Galaxie Celtic) has kept the mood clean. With a few more hours, I’d play along, but tonight I’ll let the dog enjoy his (relative) quiet. Unless he wraps his lead around the cedars again; if that happens, all bets are off.
