A sudden urge to fax

posted in technology |

The problem with old technology is that it just won’t go away. This evening, a sudden need to fax a document; we’ve never owned a standalone machine, but there are other ways of getting there. In the short term, a trip to the local corner store or pharmacy can get past the immediante urge. In the longer view, I have a more kludgy solution.

The inkjet printer/scanner is also /fax. The downside is that there is no telephone jack close by, but the strongarm transfer method can get around the problem. There is also an older laptop with a modem/fax gadget. Not fun, but it will get the job done. Or, I could play patience until dawn, and send a fax from work where there are still too many machines.

Another good football game this afternoon, with the Rouge et Or defeating the Vert et Or. The season is heading towards yet another undefeated set of statistics, and a playoff berth is assured. Now to figure out why the Laval team isn’t ranked #1 in Canada despite their effort. I’ll have to ask an expert (in sporting stats) about that, this week. Just to know.

And finally, I watched a movie that left me perplexed. Sucker Punch is filled with paradoxes, and some great steampunk zombies, and asylum decor that makes me think of those urban exploring websites that were all the rage a few years ago. I watched the show over two viewings; never noticed. Too many questions and not enough answers. A connection to Ballad Of Jack And Rose, among others.
