On the green carpet?

posted in media, technology |

You can always go back… musically. Spent part of the is afternoon listening to the Moody Blues, and it’s as if the last forty years hadn’t happened. Just as good, this time around. There’s actually a new box set out, Timeless Flight, and I can see how it would rate a place on any fan’s shelf. Bit pricey, but what isn’t?

My project for today involved trying to configure a “display unit”, to be used in a school to provide information screens. Not much accomplished, though. I did the firmware upgrade, and it accepted an IP address. The internal web server “answers”, but I have no idea who I’m supposed to be. Nor does the documentation. I’m going to drag my HDMI cable and adapter along to the office, to see if anyone else has an insight. Or maybe I’ll call the supplier. Takes the challenge out of the game, but I have other things to do with my time.

On the radio, a debate. Should the “West” attack Syria, for crimes unproven? The philosophy of our leaders is that someone has to punch out the bad guy. Playground justice. I don’t see the world in such terms; I don’t live a life of clear and present danger. Guess that’s why I’m not a soldier, or a warrior president/prime minister/whatever.

Proof that country music isn’t like other styles: this evening, at the national award show, guests will be welcomed on the green carpet. Either the “real” red one was out for cleaning, or the colour-blind guy made the choice at the order desk. I may tune in to see what shade is actually used. Maybe they’ll have my alternate of grey.
