Stitch and enjoy
Once in a while, you get pitched an easy one. The kind of day (at work) that can be handled with closed eyes (as long as you keep the snoring levels down). Seriously, when the question came up over supper about how I’d spent my day, I had to stop and think about it. Does going out back to check for new mail count? How about resetting the password on a voicemail account? Or setting up support for a VC, later in the week. None of these are exceptional; it’s just that they are usually “brief interludes”, rather than the main program for the concert. Oh well. Now that I’ve commented on how easy things can be, tomorrow will bite me, hard. Never fails.
Finally figured out how to make a simple panoramic photo. The secret is in the software (we are dealing with digital data). After selecting a set of images, placing them in logical order (think of walking around in a circle) and running the “stitch” step, the program spits out exactly what I want. Or close enough. I need to refine my technique, but based on a single effort I’m sure I can handle this concept. Bring on the holidays.
Added my experience to the collective lawn mow, and reaffirmed the basic truth: With an electric mower, you spend more time on cord management than on actual cutting. No wonder those infernal combustion engines are so popular. In passing, we did purchase a manual mower, two or three seasons ago. Haven’t seen it in, well, two or three seasons. There’s a message in there.
