Canine binary and “make some noise”
Mix a few drops of disapointment into my Canada Day Cocktail. After watching the big show presented over lunch from the Hill, I came away hungry for more. A lot more. A return to the blowout performances from earlier in the century would make all the difference. Sorry, but a show with Avril and Marie-Mai serves to remind me about buying a calendar for next year. Nothing more. If this is the best on offer for CanCon, then we have been robbed my the Can Cons.
And so I’m trying to remain distracted by watching the MMVA. From Toronto. With Psy. And asking the audience to “Make some noise” is so ’80s (back before anyone in the show was even born, I suspect). If you want to make noise, bring in a stack of Marshalls, and use your best power chords. Not the ones I am trying to learn, in passing. My attack lacks power. Crank the heads to eleven; that’ll make some noise.
Speaking of noise, I tried to “clean” the main volume control on my little amp. That counts as noise. Don’t think I blew any speaker cones, but the risk was inherent.
I had the house to myself for most of the afternoon, which allowed some snap and crackle. The dog continued to request in/out/in/out, but I’m easy with canine binary modes. As long as the long lead still smps, he can check out both sides of the door. No rain, no wind. And I’m prepared to face my nine days of office duty with aplomb. And clean clothes. And weekly bus passes. It’s summer.
