Trying to judge the suitable level of effort
How much effort should I put into reviving an old computer? Some hardware doesn’t stop working prematurely, and a machine can still do the jobs it did in [fill in the year] today, as long as the software is still available. I’ve got a few “veterans” around the house, much to the chagrin of others. Now to justify the storage space and effort. This afternoon, I plugged in an old Mac, but the install disk I have on hand won’t work with this machine. I’m sure I can still purchase a solution, but the box works fine in Linux. Do I really need an apple as a working solution, when there are Windows and Linux boxes to take up the workload? Is this an “intellectual” exercise?
On to other things. The long weekend is over, and I’m rested. The last few weeks before summer should go by quickly, given that the heavy clothes are stowed for another few months.
On TV, a back-to-back pair of Bronson movies. He was in decent shape for a guy with the requisites for retirement age met and passed. Lean and mean. The plotlines are thin, with lots of gunfire to keep the viewer awake.
My dog is extremely polite. When offered a bone to clean, he’s willing to let me hold the support while he strips proteins with those funny front teeth. No fighting with me, or trying to wrestle whatever free. I’m not sure his friend that comes over for sitting around would be as reasonable. Funny mutt. I wonder where he was before coming on board with us.
