Mixed up their calendar, for a change

posted in technology |

Call came in, this morning, from the Montreal area. Someone wanting to apologize for their failure to start the videoconference at the expected time. Connection to follow. Except… there was nothing scheduled, another call was already in progress, and nobody at my end was waiting. After a round robin of messages, the simple truth came out. Montreal had mixed us up with another school board, and there was no missed anything. It’s nice when it’s not my fault.

And on to other things. Trying to put together a solution to someone else’s problem. This year, final exams will be made available with software-assisted reading for those with special needs. Except… the process sounds much simpler than it is. Yes, Adobe can read a PDF, and Word-Q can read a Word doc, but the math element falls short. I set someone up with a “home recording” station, to read and register the exam for distribution. But. Not sure we’ve nailed it. More tests tomorrow, as the clock ticks down to early June.

Son #2 wants to plant hops in the back yard. I’m open to whatever works for him, but methinks he is underestimating the effort required. Particularly if I’m not onsite to garden as it grows.

On the news, two bombs have exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Two  Three dead, multiple injured and no blame claimed as of this time. I don’t get this kind of thing.

And as we head into the week, I’ve finally taken down the strings of decorative lights that were placed in the linden tree some months ago. It just seemed like the thing to do.
