New leaders and new mottos
The dust is settling. About a minute ago, another Trudeau climbed into the driver’s seat for the Liberal party. This time around (according to others in the room), it won’t matter. I’m willing to wait and see. In the other opposition party, they’ve also held a convention. No new leader to sell , but the membership opted to drop the word “socialism”. Again, I’m willing to wait and see. We’re two (long) years away from a trip to the polls, and that’s when something like this becomes meaningful.
I’ve had other things to do. Checking the schematics for obsolete audio amps – I’d love to reduce the noise, and “scratchy pots” are not the result of cooking rice for too long. Speaking of which, I threw out two bags of rice. No way should forty-five minutes on the stovetop result in something as crunchy as a bowl of peanuts. Next time, no “no-name”; I’ll return to brand loyalty, and the reward it brings.
Watching a documentary where someone drives down to the national border. Waves at the guys on the other side. And doesn’t get shot for his effort. Wow! The officials did, however, tell him that he (also) was on film, and that there were in-ground sensors and overhead drones to assure no sidestep. Remember that “longest undefended border in the world”? Please redact the statement. For the record, we still have another undefended border… think coast line. Think north. Realize that nobody cares, except for a few zealots in the government. When I stand on the beach, about ninety days hence, I’ll wear my finest border smile.
