Rumours of a new bus with a stairwell
Given that time goes by faster than before (although the science remains unclear), I no longer mind missed vacations as much as I used to. What’s a week off worth, really? I’ve been put in the position (without negotiation) of working this week, while others are absent. Are they basking on a tropical shore, or racing downhill on melting snow? Don’t care. The work week is already down to 80% remaining.
It appears that support staff are left with less to do, when the rest of the workforce goes AWOL (I didn’t give them leave; it applies). Fewer interruptions, either by faces on my fence or the chirping of the telephone. Less email. All in all, rather blissful. I may suggest to the adminstration that vacation time extensions be handed out, willy nilly.
After a head’s up from son #1, I paid particular attention to the news this evening. The city is experimenting with double decker buses (imported from London), and my run might be part of the test group. Imagine the novelty of crawling up a steep stairwell while the bus navigates the broken roads in the neighbourhood. I am ready, if they need me. Can’t be any worse than those runs where no seats are available due to overloading.
After throwing out the leftovers, there was no choice. I had to go to Subway for nourishment. The menus do not display properly on an iPad, and the soundtrack under Windows doesn’t make me hungrier, but the “sandwich artist” was on the ball this evening. In and out, quickly, with what I had ordered.
