Distracting a dog with a dream

posted in environment, politics |

for anyone interested by Canadiana, one TV show in particular takes you down to the sheds, cellars and shelves of the land. I’m a fan of Canadian Pickers. They have deep pockets, an eye for the oddball object and an invitation into places where the rest of us may never get to go.

This evening, while surfing the channels, I had a chance to watch an episode filmed in Newfoundland and dubbed into French. Odd juxtaposition, but the natural talents of Scott and Sheldon for putting people at ease came through. Mostly. Might be my imagination, but the arms of the locals didn’t seem to be spread wide apart.

This is another evening of life with the loaner dog. The game plan is to keep her distracted with doggie snacks, in the presence of so many other canine desires. Old Kleenex have a charm that escapes me. Not her. Between now and bedtime, a lot of exercise in store.

Roasted a pair of hens this afternoon. Now that the dissection is over, we have enough sandwich stock to get us through the weekend. What’s really needed is a big pot of chicken soup (to fight off the colds of others), but I probably won’t get there. Distracted by dogs.

The student class of our society are back to square one. Free tuition, and the economy be damned. Last provincial election, the party now in power was ready to promise the world on a platter, to get votes. Now that the budget problem is theirs, the shuffle dance has started in earnest.
