Doomed to bouts of coughing?

posted in computing |

Trying to get my head around the coverage of the Grammy Awards. For something that is “all about the music”, the attention to dresses and shoes is, shall we say, exaggerated. Akin to praising the clouds during an airshow. Why can’t we have an awards show that is musical (and that doesn’t mean the Bieb).

I put too much time into trying to solve an upgrade problem this afternoon. My Apache webserver is old. Ditto for PHP and MySQL. Here’s the catch. Trying to install recent versions of the trio is an exercise in frustration. Given that others claim to have solved the problem, I took the necessary copies of my data sets, and installed XAMPP.

The server runs… unfortunately, my various apps and wikis are not coming to life. I’ll put it off for the time being (hoping for inspiration, or a Googled answer). After all, there’s a chance of some music in the next couple of hours (and the Bieb doesn’t count).

When those around are dropping from the cold (not the temperature; the germy kind), is it only a matter of time before you join the club? Should I empty my calendar? Is my week doomed to fits of coughing? Hope not. Not my idea of a fun way to spend the day.

Another round of dogs barking at the moon, last night.

Should have gone for muffins (the sole nourishment that I believe proper in the cubicle). Maybe I’ll “hit” the coffee shop between bus chapters, and get the mix of bran and raisin that seems like a health break. Yes, I do know better.
