The Vanier Cup is coming back for the winter

posted in economy, sports |

To celebrate the occasion, a second panful of chicken wings. After all, with the Rouge et Or winning the Vanier Cup (only minutes ago), this part of the planet has stopped holding their collective breath. The defeat (bitter defeat) one year ago will now be just a line note in university football history.

Actually, a very good game this evening. Closely matched through to half time. And then, McMaster lost their “sacred fire”. A scoreless half, while the gang from Laval just did their thing, over and over again. No tears on the visiting bench, this year. I like college football. The pro stuff doesn’t have the same soul (it might be the money).

This morning, I had a two site videoconference that just wouldn’t work. First time I’ve seen that level of incompatibility. The “visitors” tried to follow via Skype, but that isn’t the solution when you want to present ideas to a whole roomful of people, plus. No doubt there will be questions, come Monday. The answer will be succinct. Sometimes, even a great notion fails in practice.

I guess this is Black Friday, in the American retail tradition. Up here, nothing. Not even a cool deal or three at the box stores. I ended up buying some switches and stereo jacks from China, via eBay; nothing to do with the day and everything to do with overprices stuff available locally. I guess the merchants just don’t have access to the web, or something.

Tried a new brand of smoked meat for supper. Different package, full flavour. Someone doing things right.
