Hockey in reruns

posted in environment, sports |

Feeling self-satisfied. Much more, there’ll be photos. After all, how else to feel, after a complete wash, fold, hang, shelf, store of the existing wardrobe, along with a run to the dumpster with stuff that no longer fits my exacting standards. Go ahead, snicker. There is rare and then there is REALLY RARE.

Along with that, the pool stuff has been stored. Winter can just come on down; I’m ready. Caught some static over my lawnmower stow solution, but that’s temporary. The solution, I mean. Soon as I can, there’s a better place (in the basement). I’m reformed.

No roadtripping today, though. No mall wandering, or fleamarket perusing. Nothing. Just quiet time with the dog. Tomorrow is back to routine, with the two month run to Christmas break. Long weeks ahead.

It isn’t a figment of my imagination. The newspapers have confirmed it. There is a plan to show hockey game reruns, what with the absence of the “real thing” this season. Confirmation that  if they didn’t tell people, it would be possible to film a couple of seasons of the game and then never bother hiring another pro. The average Joe wouldn’t know the difference. Have to wonder if the “original players” get royalties for rebroadcast.

In fact, if we’re going back to the canned content, let’s renew with roots. A league with six teams, where it was possible to memorize the roster of a given club without needing the mental skill set of a savant. Let’s pick a point in time:  how about 1965, and we could reissue those hockey cards that came in attached packages from the local bottling plant. Remember; six teams…
