The music of videogames
In this house, videogames have been part of the lifestyle (for others in the family), for years. I suspected, but never had confirmation until this weekend, that is was mainly because of the music.
Video Games Live is a touring orchestral revue, with the soundtrack music from thirty years of video games as the raison d’être. Live is the operant term; without the power of the symphony, it would be nothing more than a best of album. Hand the controls over to the conductor, fill the stage seats with master performers and you really have something. We watched the PBS special last evening, and then we watched it again this afternoon. My only regret is that I never cranked the sound system into overdrive.
Last evening’s snow has faded away (cold rain), but the idea of taking the winter tires off before late April is proven as a foolish dream.
Today we’re keeping two dogs in the space usually reserved for one. Interesting interaction. Think of two magnets, unable to match their poles. A lot of noise, back pedalling, nasty stares (every time the fundamental issue of food arises). Our own House of Commons. It’s only for the afternoon, but I imagine that if we left them to “their own devices” we’d have a truce in no time. Takes too much energy for any other solution. No, two strange dogs do not bond on species kinship alone. I’d put the sounds up here, but we’d terrify small children.
And with that, I’m ready to relax, as the weekend clock winds down.
