Awaiting the fourth ballot
My opinions are not universally accepted. Not even in my own home. Learned that, last evening, when I expressed my sentiment about the proposed tuition hike. I stood alone.
Not surprised, really. When “others” are seen to profit, always, the measures that affect us personally become larger than life. Or budgets. I’ve already said that I’d love to abolish student tuition. I’d also love to establish world peace, eradicate hunger, etc. All are beyond my reach. Sorry, my sons, but the love I bear for you is not related to my sense of social responsibility. At least, not directly.
There are those that combat openly for better political justice. Right now, the NDP are awaiting the outcome of a fourth ballot in their quest for a new party leader. As are the rest of us. Right now, the NDP is best /only alternative to an oppressive strain of political thought that holds the reins of power in Ottawa. May your new leader be strong of conviction and charismatic as all get out!
Watching yet another iteration of Riverdance on PBS. Generic talent. Time for Jean Butler and Michael Flatley to return to centre stage. Bring along Eileen Ivers and a few other named musicians. Or else, name the players that are onstage.
We’re dogsitting. She is extremely competent at shredding paper. Wonder if that ability has any commercial application?
To my surprise, a small firm stopped by this morning and offered to give us a written estimate on replacing our roof. I salute you, and if you are at all reasonable, you’ll be shortlisted. Just because you didn’t force me to seek you out.
