To text or to tweet
For the last eighteen hours, I lived in a world without wind. Not really, but according to the family anemometer we were in an alternate world. Blame it on the freezing rain. When the temperature dropped, during a calm period, the gentle rain became gentle icicles. And there things stood, until I could get home and (gently) swat the whole mess with a ten foot pole. Let’s not pay any attention to the thigh deep footprints in the back yard.
Tried something different this evening. When someone wanted to know if they could text me, I wanted an affirmative answer. After all, the household jellybean supply was an issue… and then I remembered Twitter. With a free app on the Playbook, I was able to send and receive short epistles filled with gems of wisdom. Things like “OK”. But it’s a start. If I can figure out how to get my friends and family to embrace tweeting as a social act, then I can continue to live cellphone free. Does it matter that the whole world can participate?
My day of trying to do good went bad. Blue screened. This morning, the laptop (not mine, a work-related thing) was fully backed up. Then, after a full reformat / install, I restored the personal stuff and delivered the machine to its master. Lasted ten minutes. Blue screened. The situation has now escalated into a full-blown service call, and if things continue in the predictable vein, there will be a new laptop to set up. Small unto large. Not good news, this late in the fiscal year, but that’s how we keep the economy robust.
