Which leads to another
Once there’s a bit of wind in the sails, it’s hard to get the boat stopped. We have added the flash to our new stable of photoponies. Just yesterday, the flash was something for a future purchase, when there was some extra cash. Today, it’s here with us. Everyone needs a little more debt to keep the economy moving, I guess.
Now comes the challenge of mastering the new technology. I mean, cameras have been around for some time, and light just is. Capturing light used to mean a few hours extra work in the darkroom. Now, that captured light will mean becoming a PhotoShop slave. No shortage of information though; a quick look around on Usenet uncovered forty-nine volumes that aim to make me brighter (no relation to the light, though). Mixed descriptive terms and metaphors.
I’m not sure, but the big tree in front of the house seems to be coming out in buds. That doesn’t bode well; a quick return to real winter and we could have a naked tree living near our front door next summer. It seems that the bears at a zoo north of here are coming out of hibernation, and the local rinks are closed (temporarily). I keep eyeing the pool and wondering if I should keep our filter and pump close by, just in case…
Today was the feast of Epiphany, which around this area is known as the Festival of the Kings (Wise Men). It entails purchasing a cake that has a pea buried inside. We bought a cake that was so bad I carried over half out to the big green stomach a couple of hours ago. There were no dried peas in the cupboard, and I think the king was crowned by acclamation. Is this another sign of global warming?
