Airframes worth their weight in paper money
It has nothing to do with laziness. The reason why we shouldn’t change off the winter tires around here is that the season for new snowfall isn’t over yet. Sigh.
Locally, we have an television program using current political situations played out by animated characters. Satire, barely. While watching Et Dieu créa… Laflaque this evening, I noted that the different stories had nothing to do with satire or hyperbole. Facts, just the facts. A sad commentary.
Meanwhile, the playoffs (hockey) have begun, and those with sport attention spans are excited. The rest of us won’t remember anything about the series, six months from now. Pity that there isn’t alternate programming for the those that don’t care.
The latest twitch in the Canadian fighter story is that the price doesn’t include motors (despite the bafflegab offered by MP Laurie Hahn). How practical; an airframe worth its own weight in paper money. Could someone mention that the money belongs to the public, not the gang of masterminds calling themselves the Harper government? I don’t mind paying taxes. I do mind the way that certain factors want to spend them. Surely we could buy some common sense for much less than we lose through waste and mismanagement.
The hope for the nation may well rest with our youth – who might surprise the pundits and show up to mark ballots. The whole “vote mob” meme is worth watching. My gut feeling is that there’s a certain sector of the population that might be awake. Back in the referendum frenzies, we had record turnouts. It could happen.
